The baroque town hall carrying a gable with tower and clock dominates the Vrchlabí main square. A bell hangs from the front of the building which was used to sound alarm or announce festive occasions. The tower once had an inscription in Latin reading "Ultima latet" – the last (hour) is concealed. The construction of the town hall began in 1732 to substitute its rather decrepid predecessor and two additionally bought town houses. The construction, which was among the first stone buildings in town, was completed by builder Jan Jiří Sheehak in 1737. The big hall upstairs was used for assemblies of the villagers while the groundfloor used to be a public house. In 1927 the town hall was renovated and modified in the Renaissance style according to a design of the town's architect Hans Knoll. Today Vrchlabí's municipal information centre is located on the building's ground floor.
