Museum of Giant Mountains - Monument of the Remote PatriotsThe museum was opened in 1958 thanks to the collection of Giant Mountains' teacher Venceslav Metelka (his memoirs inspired K.V. Rais to the writing of his famous novel „Remote patriots“). In 1979 the exhibition was extended with the display of Giant mountains' violin school, whose founder was V. Metelka. This extensive collection of musical instruments leads from the founder of the school to today's iolinists of the famous Pilar's and Spindlen's dynasty. The collection of the museum also reflects the history and the everyday life in the mountain village – agriculture, trades, treatment of flax, wood turning, beading. It also covers the village's theatre and musical tradition. Two working looms are on display in the museum as well as moving nativity set made by the Skrabalka Brothers at the beginning of the 20 century. All this is completed with photographs by Petr Kucera from years 1900-1930. Price: 8 - 16 CZK 512 47 Paseky nad Jizerou Phone: (+420) 481 523 609 www.krnap.cz
